What is Balance transfer intro period?

In short

A balance transfer intro period is the stretch after a transfer when a card charges no interest on what you moved across.

A balance transfer intro period is the window after you move a balance to a new card during which no interest is charged on it. Its length decides how much breathing room the move buys, and it only covers the balance you transferred, not new spending. Barclaycard gives the longest window here, at 36. ANZ Credit Cards offers 26, Bank of Ireland 7, Avant Money 6 and Aqua Card 5.
