What is Founded?

Founded means the year a company was created, and for a bank it is a simple measure of how long it has traded. An older bank has usually had more business cycles, name changes and mergers behind it, while a newer one may be built on a fresher model. The year on its own says little about safety or fees, but it gives useful context when you weigh two providers you know nothing about. ABANCA was founded in 2011, and ABA Bank in 1996.
