What is Card network?

In short

The scheme that moves a payment from your card to the shop's terminal or machine.

A card network is the scheme that authorises your payment and carries it from your card to the shop's terminal or machine. Your bank issues the card, but the network processes the payment, so cards with similar fees can behave differently in another country. The network also sets what a shop's machine accepts and what a foreign purchase costs the shop to take. Check it alongside the currency and fees you will pay. The card from 1st National Bank Saint Lucia runs on visa, as does the prepaid card from Absa Kenya Multi-Currency Prepaid Card on visa.
