What is Free ATM withdrawals?
In short
The number of cash machine withdrawals a month that the provider will not charge you for.
A free ATM withdrawal allowance is the number of cash machine withdrawals in a month that the provider does not charge for, with anything beyond it usually billed per withdrawal. It is one of the clearest examples of an allowance that suits one spending pattern and penalises another: regular travellers and cash users run out of free withdrawals quickly, while most people who tap or swipe never approach the limit. Absa allows a free ATM allowance of ZAR 2,000 and Aion Bank allows €300. ALAT by Wema provides NGN 150,000. At the other end of the scale, both 1st National Bank Saint Lucia and ACB Grenada Bank have an allowance of XCD 0, so any cash withdrawal on those accounts is charged. Check the allowance before choosing on other features, because taking cash out quietly erodes the value of a free account.
