What is Top-up fee?

In short

A top-up fee is what you pay to put money onto a prepaid card, and it applies before you spend anything.

A top-up fee is the charge for loading money onto a prepaid card, whether from cash, a bank transfer or a linked wallet. It matters because you pay it every time you top up, not once. The figures here cover prepaid cards. Banco Sol Kumbu prepaid charges a fee of 2% when loading at a branch counter, plus 14% VAT. Airtm takes a smaller amount, at 1% on first $200 per month, while the Advcash (Advanced Cash) Card shows loads from Volet e-wallet only. Access Bank Cards and the Access Bank Zambia Premium Elite are free to load, with only a one-off card issuance charge.
